On June 17, 2013 GLIS became an official member organization of the GIS Certification Institute (GISCI).

Joining GISCI gives GLIS an opportunity to participate and collaborate with fellow geospatial professionals.

Two GLIS representatives currently serve on the GISCI board: Bill Coleman and John Bean.

On August 22, 2012 GLIS & AAGS sign Articles of Affiliation.

In the spirit of collaboration and working together to advance the geospatial sciences, GLIS & AAGS finalize the Articles of Affiliation between the two organizations.

On July 25, 2012 GLIS became an official member organization of the Coalition of Geospatial Organizations (COGO).

The Coalition of Geospatial Organizations (COGO) is a coalition of national professional societies, trade associations, and membership organizations in the geospatial field, representing more than 30,000 individual users of geospatial data and technology.

The stakeholder groups that make up COGO speak with one voice whenever possible on geospatial data and policy issues.  http://www.cogo.pro/Home_Page.html

The GLIS Delegate to COGO is Coleen Johnson. Mark Kouwe is an alternate delegate and Richard Smith is an observer.
