GLIS becomes the newest member of the GIS Certification Institute

June 17, 2013 – The Geographic and Land Information Society (GLIS) is pleased to announce that it has become the newest member of the GIS Certification Institute (GISCI) family of organizations.  Recently GLIS signed a Memorandum of Understanding with GISCI and is now a part of the organization.   Mr. William (Bill) Coleman, RPLS, GISP and Mr. John Bean, PE, GISP, two (2) of its board members, were appointed by GLIS to join the current 10-member GISCI board.   GLIS June 2013 press release

GLIS passes a resolution regarding geospatial data privacy

That on this the 1st day of May, 2013, it is the sense of GLIS that imagery and geospatial data collection, usage and application is a valued part of the modern American economy; is broadly applied to improve the analyses and decisions necessary to sustain and enhance the quality of life; is not synonymous with “precise geolocation data” as such term is used by the Federal Trade Commission and in legislative proposals; and functions in a manner that does not threaten the privacy of individual citizens.  Privacy_Resolution_GLIS 05-01-13
